The Chinese Factory Project (CFP) is a data analytics and digital history project designed to collect, analyze, and publicize archival and quantitative sources on the history of the factories, industrial development, and economic life in modern China. Currently, the CFP carries out three initiatives: 1) developing a digital collection of factory archives and regional industrial materials; 2) constructing the first factory-level database that will eventually include over 6,000 factory cases from all major periods of modern China; 3) creating visualizations of the geospatial and ecological changes in China’s economic transformation in the twentieth century.
